I’ve worked on screenprinted images on ceramic. The ‘raw material’ for the images is mainly black-and-white photos that I’ve taken myself or that have existed in my immediate surroundings, e.g. old family photos. Before transfer of the pictures to the screenprint frame they have been digitally processed, and I’ve sought to have as little influence as possible on the actual photos.

When printing on clay I’ve used a kind of collage technique, whereby I can allow several different photos to overlap with each other so that they go together to create a picture. This can be likened to the double-exposure technique, and has been an important part of my work.

I’ve printed onto raw porcelain, and have used a transparent glaze. During firing there is an interaction between the clay, the color and the glaze, which to a great extent affects the expression of the picture. I see this process as a ‘development’ of the picture. I’ve tried to observe and take advantage of the unexpected results of firing. My pictures can work individually or as public embellishment.
