The Sea Beast

Slurp, slurp, munch, munch! He’s not dangerous, he’s moved into your pool. He lives there now. He eats up the mess so you don’t have to use any nasty chemicals.

I find my inspiration in music, dreams and white walls. Ideas and solutions come to me while I’m sleeping, standing in the shower or staring at a white wall. That was how I arrived at the idea for my degree project Sjöodjuret (The Sea Beast), an automatic swimming pool cleaner.

During my time at Konstfack, design has increasingly focused on emotional values for me; untouchable things, the feelings and experiences that a product communicates. I am drawn to irrationality, feelings that cannot be described, intuition. A designer who bows to irrationality can probably create more ‘humane’ products. An inner chaos that feeds and inspires can lead to concrete products.
