Jacket button, dungaree button, jeans button, coat button, cuff link – the common denominator for all of these buttons is how they affect the overall impression. I did not have any particular relationship to buttons when I began, but through my investigative work and a chance meeting with buttons, I saw an opportunity to explore their potential and find new ways of using them. I wanted to work openly and innovatively, so I chose to be my own employer. I have focused on the dynamics and thrill of combining design, color and materials, and my limitations have been textiles or clothing. The result is a collection of buttons. Photo: Zara Johansson |
