There’s no doubt that visual languages create both meaning and knowledge – but in what way? I’ve been interested in the link between creativity and knowledge, and the way aesthetic forms of knowledge are interpreted. From an art-pedagogy standpoint I’ve done investigative work based on children’s and young people’s own creativity and their aesthetic learning processes.

Creativity plays a major role in personal and linguistic development, and schools are responsible for every pupil being able to communicate knowledge and experiences using as many different forms of expression as possible after their nine years of compulsory school. My work comprises a written and an interpretative part, which can either be seen as two separate units or as an integrated whole. With my interpretation I wish to emphasise my reasoning in the written work regarding diversity of forms of knowledge and the way creation, language and communication are prerequisites for all learning processes.
