The Door to Isolation

the fog lies thick around the ferry
the island suddenly appears
I have arrived
the fog engulfs the island
all that’s left is deserted houses
I hear the wind
howling and whining
but the harbor is a place for intruders
a place for watching
I’ll stay here all alone
I stop and talk to myself

I have explored the need to isolate myself, to cut myself off from the rest of the world. A deserted island lay waiting for me. I am building the door!
